Glad Rags & Cartridge Bags – Craigston Castle in memory of Yasmin

A couple of months back on a dark cold winters evening I received a telephone call completely out of the blue from a lovely gentleman called Sandy.  The love of his life Yasmin had sadly lost her battle from cancer 2 years ago but on her to do list was to join Glad Rags & Cartridge Bags to learn to shoot and be a Gladragger.

So in memory of the amazing woman this shoot is now Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags at Craigston Castle in memory of Yasmin.  It is going to be even more special as we think just how lucky we are to be amongst old friends and new, seeing the sky above us, hear the birds singing and make ever lasting memories.

Hear in Sandy’s own words all about Yasmin.

“Yasmin was a fun loving, cheeky, straight talking, live life to the full character.

A doting mum to Sophie (21) and William (15) and loving husband to me.

After her family her great loves were horses, particularly carriage driving, her chihuahua dogs and outdoor life in general.

She also enjoyed a good party with family and friends.

As a qualified self – employed beautician, her work took her here, to Craigston Castle introduced to the owners by Margaret Nash, (Margaret is joining us for the first time at this event) where she did massage and beauty on various clients staying at the castle.

She loved going there and was always fascinated in it and its history and beauty.

Yasmin was diagnosed with incurable bowel cancer that spread to the Liver in 2018, however with her typical fight and determination, the incurable became curable and after, shall we say,  some ‘alternative’ medicine her cancer became operable. She was operated on in July 2019 and declared cancer free in January 2020 however at the six monthly check in June 2020 it was found to have come back with a vengeance.  Sadly this was a fight Yasmin could not win this time and she passed away peacefully on January 22nd 2021, aged just 39.

Anyway Yasmin was even more determined to live life to the full and on boxing day 2019 went out beating on a local shoot and loved it – it was always going to be a goal of hers to do some form of shooting and she was so excited when she saw the Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags group!  Sadly, due to her health and COVID she never had the chance to go but I know she would have become a regular attendee in the group and would have been so excited that Craigston was to be a venue.

When I saw this event I felt it fitting to make a gesture to remember her by as she would just have been in her element here.”

The privately owned Castle dates back to 1604, and we feel very very honoured to be invited back to hold our event here by kind invitation of the Urquhart family.
