About
On 13th May 1995 I organised my first event, “The Hot Cross Bouncing Bunny Ball” a black-tie ball for 500 people. Raising £5,000 for the Edinburgh Branch of the Red Cross where I was working as Commercial Manager at the time.
It was at that ball that I had my light bulb moment at 2 am as I was standing in the middle of the dance floor that it was the events industry that I wanted to be part of.
early days
Match Point Hospitality in Edinburgh was next, highlights being European Mogul Challenge. Series of 4 head-to-head mogul ski races, British Beach Volleyball Championships and World Legends Tennis Championships.
Marketing and Events Manager for Drambuie Liqueur Company was incredible. This was a whirlwind of back-to-back events, being responsible for all aspects of Drambuie’s presence at a plethora of prestigious famous events The London Ski Show, The World Tax Free Exhibition Asia in Hong Kong, The European Tax-Free World Exhibition in Cannes, The Scone Game Fair, CLA Game Fair, GQ Active Show London and Cowes Speed Boating Week.
I can only blame the madness of youth for my next move but thankfully it worked out. I resigned from Drambuie to set up my own events management business MAP 55. I had wonderful loyal clients who had big budgets and unique events for me to manage. For Xerox UK it was their “Show Liner” tour showcasing their new products all over the UK. For Xerox Europe the launch of their new products in Dublin, there were charity balls, product launches, exhibitions, team building days. In one memorable week I was in London, New York and Paris working on three different events.
It was amazing but I needed to catch up with my own life for a while, MAP 55 was put on hold. Roll on a few years a wedding and three children later I was really missing events. With number three off to school once again I took the leap of faith and started Jomm Events delivering events from concept to completion for the private and corporate markets and launching Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags Scotland’s premier ladies shooting events. Fun times, with fabulous clients and the amazing ladies of Cartridge Bags, clay shooting experiences, mini highland games, archery, team building, whisky and gin tasting to name but a few.
welcome
